Tropic Thunder-wedding band career 1 - and out

Went to a delightful wedding at Wye River, just past Lorne. Inclement weather forced proceedings inside to the surf lifesaving club . Plans had been for the guests to be standing on the bride over the river Wye as the bride was rowed down and under us by a crew of stout galley slaves. Perhaps this may have had to coincide with planning and knowledge of the tides as if it was going in the boat may have been in a static non moving position as the rowers fought the waters power.
So the beautiful and happy couple took their vows under an arch inside.

The guests had been asked to dress in a "tropical style".

There was then a wedding dance which was a total Busby Berkley routine where the amazing couple had a first and 3rd row of dancers in front , around and behind them. A tango morphing into a Bollywood routine.Blindingly well executed. Then the band played.
Peter Luscombe and Clare Moore alternating on drums.Aaron Cupples on guitar, Pat Bourke and Phil Kakulas on bass, Dan kelly on guitar and keys and Dan Luscombe also on guitar and keys. I sat at the back and played acoustic guitar. The latter Dan was really the musical director and arranged all the songs after nutting out the chords.

We had all arrived the night before and attended a song bootcamp at a sweat lodge high above the river which lasted until 2 am.

All songs had been requested by the bride and groom.
Guest vocalists were Quincey Maclean on Unit 4plus 2s "concrete and clay" and the Turtles "happy together". Dan L sang "I only have eyes for you" and also led us through a beautiful version of Santo and Johnny's "sleepwalk". Lilith Lane came on and sang Etta James "at last" and Madonnas "crazy for you".
I had a lunge at " one night of sin" by Elvis Presley and Amanda Roff did a great version of the Beach Boys "God Only Knows" accompanied by Dan L on guitar and ending with the assembled throng harmonizing. Sweet.

Had a great time. People stayed on the dancefloor until the early hours, the waves crashed all night long.

Drove back to town the nest day, after cleaning the surf life saving club up.
